Metal Profile Roll Forming Machine

A metal profile roll forming machine is generally used by fabricators who require a large scale production of steel coils. It is an automatic process and involves pressing the metal rollers into a shaped mould, which gets hardened into the desired shape. The metal coils are fed through this mould at elevated pressure. As the pressure is applied, the metal rolls get pulled to the edges of the mould. The resultant product is the shaped coil with cut edges and a smooth surface.

The advantages of a metal profile roll forming machine is that it is easy to use, produces high quality coils, eliminates errors, produces a high volume of coils in a short time and at the same time it is economical. In addition, it has the potential to provide a high margin of error because the operator can adjust the sizes and speeds of the running rollers. The operating principle of the machine is simple and consists of an engine that rotates at high speed and a set of variable speed drive rollers. Once the desired shape is achieved, the operator shuts down the engine and disconnects the drive rollers to prevent further heating.

The basic operations of a metal profile machine include feeding the material (gauge) into a hopper, removing the material as needed and pouring into a tank at high speed. The feed roller moves in a vertical position inside the machine and the material are fed by gravity into the hopper. As the material passes through the rollers, it is compressed and pushed out into the tank area. The process is repeated as many times as required to complete the desired profile.

A metal profile is formed on the following types of metals: brass, aluminum, steel, fiberglass, wood, melamine, pewter and more. The equipment can be configured to meet different demands of the client. For instance, a small profile can be made on aluminum tubing while a larger profile on a steel coil will require different sized rollers and a different type of grinding operation. A metal profile roll forming machine is a specialized type of machine. It is different from a metal press because it combines direct and indirect power. This means that the operator is able to control the speed of the metal feed from either side of the roller. Feed rates can be adjusted by regulating the speed of the rollers. Since the operator is in charge of the speed of the machine, the time to load the rollers is reduced.
