What Is a Zinc Sheet Machine?

Zinc is used in a variety of different applications due to its durability and resistance to corrosion (it corrodes at about 1/30 the rate that steel does). It's often used in roofing and cladding, but can also be found in siding, gutters, and downspouts. Zinc is relatively easy to work with and can be cut, drilled, or shaped into a number of different designs and sizes.

A zinc sheet machine is responsible for creating flat sheets of this material for use in construction projects. These machines take zinc coils and pass them through a series of rollers that shape the material into a desired profile, such as a standing seam or corrugated design. The equipment also cuts the sheet into a specified length.

Because it's nonporous, there aren't a lot of finishes that can be applied to zinc sheet metal. However, it can be polished or buffed to create a refined shine and may develop a light gray or green patina over time as it ages and is exposed to moisture and other environmental elements. It can also be engraved or embossed to create unique decorative metal elements for architectural and structural projects. It can be cut with a sharp blade or pair of scissors and then snapped along the scored line, but a power saw can also be used to ensure clean, straight lines.
